Texas Reliability Entity Portal Training

In the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) region, the Texas Reliability Entity Portal External Link is the vehicle through which many aspects of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Program and NERC registrations are conducted, specifically the following:

  • Self-certifications
  • Self-reports
  • Updates to NERC contacts, including the following:
    • Compliance Contact – Primary (PCC)
    • Authorized Signatory
    • Compliance Contact – Secondary
    • Authorized Entity Officer
    • CEO Contact – Primary
    • Registration Primary Contact
  • Updates to entity's ERCOT Compliance Representative (for ERCOT Protocols)

Each entity with a NERC ID is assigned a unique Master Account within the portal. Compliance filings for a Master Account are based on the function(s) for which the organization is registered.

Each Master Account must have an assigned Master Account Administrator (MAA), who is the person who manages the Master Account, including employee access to the portal. The choice of MAA is extremely important. The MAA may be the entity's PCC, or it may be someone who the PCC designates.

As the entity’s point of contact, the MAA is responsible for the following:

  • Add new users or change existing users’ information
  • Assign user roles and security permissions, including access to sections of the portal and the actions that users are allowed to take
  • Maintain the organization’s NERC registration information

The MAA is a position of responsibility. The registered entity must be able to rely on the MAA. An entity may have more than one MAA, but caution must always be used when designating any MAA.

Each MAA is required to review the MAA training below.

E-mail portal-related questions to Texas RE Information External Link.

How to Log In for the First Time
If you are logging into the Texas Reliability Entity Portal for the first time, you must have already had a record created for you by your organization's MAA. Contact your MAA if you believe that you require access to the portal for compliance-related tasks. If you do not know who your MAA is, contact Texas RE Information.

Your user name is your first initial, last name. For example, if your name is John Doe, your username is jdoe.

  1. Go to the Texas Reliability Entity Portal External Link.
  2. Click the “I forgot my password” link, and follow directions.
  3. Look for an e-mail with “Texas Reliability Entity Portal New Password Request” in the subject line. This e-mail will contain a randomly generated password.
  4. Use this password to access the portal.
  5. Go to System Administration, and then My Contact Info to change your password.
  6. Enter the password that was e-mailed to you into the “Current Password” field. Enter a new password in the “Password” and “Password (again)” fields.

DO NOT SHARE YOUR PASSWORD OR ACCOUNT WITH ANYONE ELSE.

Security Reminder

The Texas Reliability Entity Portal is secure and encrypted. Please help Texas RE keep the portal secure. For the security of your organization’s information, do not share your account or password with anyone else.

Each portal user should be assigned his/her own account on the portal. Contributors who enter compliance data or certify compliance submissions are responsible for their actions. Remind your organization’s portal users not to share their accounts or passwords.

If you need assistance in setting up a new user for your organization’s Master Account, please review the MAA training below.
