Summary of Responsibilities
The Generalist will deliver ongoing HR support to employees and managers and participate in work projects in key functional areas of HR. Primary work assignments will be in the employee relations, recruiting, compensation and regulatory compliance areas.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide HR Generalist support to managers and employees
- Provide specific support in the areas of recruiting, employee relations, compensation and regulatory compliance
- Participate in wage and salary surveys and analyze survey data
- Participate in analysis and evaluation of jobs; develop recommendations for job classifications including advising on FLSA exemption status
- Create and implement proactive wage and hour strategies to maintain good employee relations, updating compensation program annually
- Help develop and administer employee recognition and reward programs, including event planning, to motivate and retain employees
- Prepare forms/packets for, and perform, new employee orientation and employee exit interviews
- Participate in development and revision of performance planning and appraisal programs
- Participate in employee handbook updates and revisions
- Develop, monitor and recommend changes to job descriptions
- Conduct and/or coordinate delivery of manager and employee training
- Ensure compliance with all government regulatory agencies and statutes affecting employment, including DOL, EEOC, INS, IRS, etc.
- Participate in and coordinate with legal counsel employment litigation on TRE’s behalf
- Participate in the design and implementation of employee benefit plans
- Answer employee’s general questions about benefits, referring more specific or technical questions to the benefits provider
- Assist with recruitment, job-posting, interviewing and selection of candidates
- Initiate/process background investigation and drug testing for candidates selected for hire
- Ensure compliance with Legal Department’s requirements regarding contractor/consultant access clearance process and orientation requirements.
- Provide various HR reports from ADP HRIS or other sources, as needed/requested
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field (an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered)
- PHR preferred
- Minimum 7 years relevant Human Resources experience, including employee relations, full life-cycle recruiting, compensation administration, regulatory compliance, and training
- Thorough knowledge of hiring best practices, compensation administration, regulatory compliance, benefits administration and employment laws
- Exceptional verbal communication and writing skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong internal consulting and facilitating skills
- High level of interpersonal skills and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations
- Experience developing and presenting training classes to large groups
- Knowledge of and ability to use an HRIS; ADP HRIS experience preferred
- A service/support mentality and ability to remain objective
